WoW Forever Warlock

Affliction, Demonology, Destruction · Alliance and Horde

Warlock is the most changed class in the demo build with 19 new talents and 17 removed, and all three capstones are new. Eleven "Improved" talents were dropped in one pass, which is the passive-percentage cleanup Blizzard described on stage.

What changes for Warlock

Incinerate and Wrack are new spells. Wrack was called Drain Hope in the BlizzCon preview. Bane of Havoc and Bane of Agony replace and extend the Curse family. Demonic Pact, Shadow and Flame, Pandemic, Malevolence and Fire and Brimstone are new talents spread across the trees.

Troll Warlocks are new to the Horde. Periodic damage can now crit, so crit rating is worth something to Affliction. Classic Warlock sims never had to model that.

Specs

  • Affliction WarlockDPS

    Bane of Agony, Pandemic and periodic crits make dots the main source of Affliction's damage.

  • Demonology WarlockDPS

    Demonic Pact and Malevolence give the pet tree a raid contribution and a new capstone.

  • Destruction WarlockDPS

    Incinerate, Shadow and Flame and Fire and Brimstone give Destruction a fire rotation alongside Shadow Bolt.

Simmed reference builds

Each saved board sims a fixed Warlock reference character at level 60, against a raid-boss target for two minutes, full raid buffs and consumables, no world buffs. The DPS is the spec's trinket board baseline (both trinket slots empty) and the rank is its place on the Forever DPS tier list.

Engine build 931ae38, simmed 1 October 2026. Boards are re-simmed after engine updates.

Human, Gnome, Orc, Undead, Troll. Troll Warlock is new to Forever. The Skyborne cannot be Warlocks. Racials are rebuilt so no two races share a passive, and weapon skill racials are gone. Race choice now changes your DPS in the sim.

What the Warlock sim has to model

Beyond the engine-wide changes (unified hit and crit, Expertise, bonus healing as spell damage, periodic crits), these are the Warlock-specific pieces the Forever engine has to get right.

  • Periodic crits and Pandemic critical damage for Affliction. Wrack is a channeled filler when talented; the ranking preset does not select it.
  • An Incinerate and Shadow and Flame rotation for Destruction instead of a Shadow Bolt loop.
  • Demonic Pact as a raid buff contribution from the pet tree.

Warlock trinket boards

One board per spec, ranking every trinket a Warlock can equip at 60 by simmed DPS gain, with where each one drops.

Is there a WoW Forever Warlock sim?

Yes, at /wow-forever/sim. Export your character with the MythicSim addon, paste it and you get a DPS number for your Warlock on the new talent trees. It runs on a MythicSim-maintained fork of ElliotWood/Forever, built on wowsims/classic (both MIT licensed).

What new spells does Warlock get in WoW Forever?
