Methodology

Baseline profile

A fixed level 60 reference character for each spec: dungeon and crafted gear, set talents, race and rotation, and both trinket slots empty. The engine applies its standard raid buffs, debuffs and consumables for the spec. Each trinket the spec can equip is simmed alone in the first slot, and its score is the mean DPS it adds over that empty-slot baseline.

Iteration count

10,000 iterations per trinket. That's enough to order trinkets a few DPS apart. Anything closer is a tie.

Fight

The engine's default encounter: one raid-boss target (level 63, three above the level 60 cap) for two minutes, give or take fifteen seconds, with no movement and no adds.

Engine build

Each spec page names the wowsims Forever build and date it was simmed on. Boards are re-simmed after engine updates, so a board can be a build behind the Quick Sim for a while.

Trinket pool

Every level 60 trinket in the engine's item database: the Classic pool from dungeons, quests, professions, reputations and the original raids. Forever adds 7 named new dungeons (Hall of Thanes, Excavation Site, The Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Island Prison, Blackmaw Hold, Shaper's Terrace) and two new raids (The Barrow Deeps, 10 player; Hyjal Summit, 20 player), none with published loot yet. Their trinkets join the boards once they reach the engine.

Not included

Forever's re-tuned item stats and the loot from its new dungeons and raids (neither published), multi-target fights, healer specs, and true paired sims. The pairings on each page are additive estimates from the solo deltas.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are these Forever trinket rankings?

Each ranking is the mean of 10,000 wowsims Forever iterations on a fixed reference build for that spec, so the order holds to within a few DPS. Two things can still move them. Forever's talent values are still being checked against the beta client, and item stats stay Classic Era until Blizzard publishes the re-tuning. Boards are re-simmed when the engine or a reference build changes.

What gear is the baseline?

A fixed level 60 reference character for the spec in curated gear, primarily dungeon and crafted items, with both trinket slots empty. Most specs use talents from a published level 60 guide build, shown on each spec's board. Rotation, raid buffs, debuffs and consumables are the wowsims Forever UI's defaults for the spec.

Are these Classic trinkets or Forever trinkets?

The current boards model Classic Era items with the stats in the pinned engine. They include trinkets sourced from older dungeons, quests and professions, but their availability and re-tuned stats in Forever still need confirmation. New dungeon and raid loot isn't modelled yet. Boards are re-simmed when the engine data changes.

Why is there only one fight style?

Every board sims a level 60 character against one raid-boss target for two minutes. There's no multi-target board until the engine's cleave encounters are verified.

How often are the leaderboards updated?

After engine updates. Each spec page shows the wowsims Forever build and the date its board was simmed on.

Why isn't my spec listed?

Every DPS and tank spec the engine sims has a board. Healing specs aren't ranked yet. Hunters and Warriors get a board per tree: Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and melee Survival, Fury and Arms.

Can I sim my own character?

Yes. Export your character with the MythicSim addon, paste it into the Forever Quick Sim and you get a DPS number on your actual gear and talents. Swap a trinket in game, export and sim again to compare two on your own character.
