What this is
Every trinket in the current loot pool is simmed on each spec's default SimulationCraft profile and ranked by how much DPS it adds over wearing no trinket. Only the trinket changes between runs, so the gap between two rows is down to the trinket alone.
Methodology
- Baseline profile
- SimulationCraft's default profile for each spec at current-season item level, with the trinket slots empty. Talents, gems, enchants and consumables follow SimC's latest defaults.
- Iteration count
- 50,000 iterations per trinket, which keeps the error on each result under 0.5%.
- Cleave
- Three targets for five minutes. Use it for Mythic+ and raid fights with adds.
- Patchwerk
- One target for five minutes, no movement, no adds. Use it for single-target bosses.
- Not included
- Tier set bonuses, hero talent choices other than SimC's default, boss mechanics, and how a trinket interacts with the rest of your gear.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are these trinket rankings?
They hold up well for the gear they were simmed on. Each trinket gets 50,000 iterations, which keeps the error on each result under 0.5% (see Methodology below). On your own character the order can shift a little, since your gear, talents and tier set differ from the baseline.
What gear is the baseline?
SimulationCraft's default profile for the spec at current-season item level, with every slot filled except the trinkets. Talents, gems, enchants and consumables follow SimC's latest defaults each week.
Why doesn't my favourite trinket appear?
Only current-season trinkets are ranked. Trinkets from past expansions, from dungeons that left the Mythic+ rotation, and raid drops you can't get anymore are left out.
Cleave or Patchwerk, which should I look at?
Cleave has three targets, Patchwerk has one. Look at Cleave for Mythic+ and raid fights with adds, and Patchwerk for single-target bosses or a dummy parse.
How often is the leaderboard updated?
Every Sunday, after the weekly SimulationCraft update. Each spec page shows the SimC build and the date its numbers come from.
Why isn't my spec listed?
Every spec has a page, and healer boards rank by HPS instead of DPS. If a spec's page says the board is refreshing, SimulationCraft doesn't have a working profile for it yet or this week's run hasn't finished.
Can I sim my own character?
Yes. Paste your /simc string on the homepage. The sim uses your own gear, talents and tier set, and ranks the trinkets in your bags.
